A History of BrandonFisher.com...
V5: Media Age |
| |
Circa 2002-2003: If you've been
to BrandonFisher.com in the past year and a half, you'll recognize
this layout. Brandon viewed his website as a media outlet, so
when he sat down to design this version, he browsed
"other" media websites, and tried to integrate the best
(look and feel) concepts from each. Two very visible
characteristics of this version -- the dropped down menu/toolbar on
the right, and the dark background -- were visions that came from
the Fox Network's website (www.fox.com)
of the time.
Brandon visualized a site that was a mixture of media, and online community.
The idea was to somehow create "buzz," and provide
visitors ways to interact, and communicate. This is still a
large part of today's BrandonFisher.com vision, and you will notice
this in the most recent version.
An idea that fell out of the online community concept was something
Brandon called "Gray Matters." With Gray Matters,
Brandon sought to create the easiest possible way to get your words,
or your thoughts, on the website. Ultimately, the Gray Matters
resembles what today might be called a community "blog"
(web log). A screen shot of Gray Matters is shown below.
In case you are wondering how it worked out, an upgraded version of
Gray Matters still exists today, and you can visit it through
today's BrandonFisher.com. The base Gray Matters conversation
has become a very popular forum for kids that play a game called runescape. |
