Defending terrorism, fighting
terrorism, the economy, WMD and war with Iraq, world
relations, immigration, stem cell research... You name
the issue, and George W. Bush has most likely messed it up.
In some cases, the issues are tightly wound. For
instance, the economy. George Bush's decision -- and subsequent
passage by the Republican lawmakers -- to provide a
disproportionate tax break has resulted in an economy that is
slow in recovery while now receiving reduced tax receipts from
the rich, thus resulting in a higher national debt.
This slow-to-recover economy, increased national debt, and
extreme instability in Iraq, has put the shackles on our stock
market. The stock market can not get any sustained
traction on the upside, because these issues continue to hover
over investor's wallets.
If George W. Bush would have decided to more substantially
lower tax rates for those in lower tax brackets -- those who
will most efficiently use tax breaks to feed the economy --
while leaving tax rates where they were for higher income
individuals and corporations, we would be seeing a faster
recovery while seeing less of an increase in the national
debt. This is not "20/20 hindsight," there
were plenty of intelligent people calling for this policy as
early evidence of the cooling economy was seen. George
W. Bush, for whatever obviously politically motivated reasons,
decided to not heed this advice.
If George W. Bush would have requested more corroborated
evidence of WMD in Iraq, there would have been plenty of
reason to wait for one of the following to occur: In the
case that solid, corroborated evidence is found, the world
community (UN) would have assisted in the efforts to oust
Saddam Hussein -- Thus reducing the burden on U.S. lives and
finances. In the case that solid, corroborated evidence
was not found, weapons inspections would continue, and Saddam
would not have easy access to any WMD, thus NO burden on U.S.
lives and finances. Either one of these scenarios would
have been better for the United States. George W. Bush
chose the option that has proven to be extremely bad for the
United States.
This as well is not "20/20 Hindsight," as many
nations and intelligent people here in the U.S. were calling
on George W. Bush to wait for more evidence before asking our
soldiers to give up their lives for George W. Bush's
paranoia, which was supported by minimal evidence.
It's so crystal clear how detrimental this President has been
for our Soldiers, our citizens, and our economy. How in
the world, could it be possible that he receive one single
vote for reelection (other than his own, his wife's, and Dick
Cheney's) in November!? I ask, and I beg everyone to
PLEASE think about this. Give some thought to the
current state of our country, and our world. Give some
analytical thought to how the decisions George W. Bush has
made has affected the current state of our country, and our
world.
